Overview
Earth Music arrived at Bridgwater Town Hall with a more intimate, six-piece orchestral format, bringing the experience into a historic civic venue. The smaller ensemble offered a different perspective on Earth Music, creating a closer connection between the musicians, the audience and the installation while preserving the scale and emotion of the original concept.
The orchestra
A compact six-piece string ensemble, comprising four violins, one viola and one cello, accompanied Michael Amadi on piano and vocals beneath the suspended Earth. The smaller formation brought a more intimate dimension to Earth Music, allowing audiences to experience the individual instruments and the richness of the orchestral arrangements in a closer, more personal setting.
The setup
The production at Bridgwater Town Hall was designed to bring the audience closer to the performance. Additional seating was arranged on stage, creating a 360° experience around the musicians and the suspended Earth. A roaming violinist moved through the space, performing among the audience and adding another dimension to the live music. Carefully positioned lighting connected the installation, performers and historic surroundings, transforming the hall into an immersive concert setting.
The evening programme was designed to take the audience on a musical journey. The concert moved between intimate moments and powerful orchestral arrangements, exploring themes of connection and our relationship with the planet.

“My favourite part was looking up at the Earth while the orchestra was playing. Such a simple idea, but it really stays with you.”
“Such a lovely evening. The music was beautiful, especially the Interstellar piece. Would definitely go again.”
