Overview
Set beneath the monumental white dome of Dom St. Blasien, Earth Music brought together live orchestral music, light and a suspended Earth installation. An immersive evening that welcomed teachers, staff and the local community, transforming the cathedral into a space for music, reflection and a shared perspective on our planet.
The orchestra
A ten-piece string ensemble, six violins, two violas and two cellos, formed a 360° circle beneath the suspended Earth, accompanying Michael Amadi on piano and vocals. With the audience seated around the musicians, the layout brought the performance into the heart of the cathedral, offering a different view from every seat.
The setup
The production was designed around the relationship between the orchestra, the planet and the cathedral. Carefully positioned lighting highlighted the installation and performers, while the cathedral’s natural acoustics added depth to the live music. The result was an immersive concert that made full use of the space without overpowering its architecture.
The evening programme was designed to take the audience on a musical journey. The concert moved between intimate moments and powerful orchestral arrangements, exploring themes of connection and our relationship with the planet.

The vision
Imagine seeing Earth from space. Looking back at our planet, discovering its beauty and reflecting on our place within it. That was the inspiration behind Earth Music at Dom St. Blasien. An evening of live orchestral music, cinematic storytelling and moments of reflection, set beneath a suspended Earth. A journey designed to change our perspective, even if just for a moment.
“My favourite part was looking up at the Earth while the orchestra was playing. Such a simple idea, but it really stays with you.”
“I’ve been inside the cathedral many times, but I’d never experienced it quite like this. The orchestra sounded incredible. Just WOW”
